We are a print and online newsletter that has been published since 1983.
Many of our advertisers have been advertising in the Gazette since 1983, and won't advertise anywhere else.
We are now in our 42nd year of publication and will be around for many more years. While many websites come and go - you can count on us to be here for years to come.

WE ARE MORE THAN A WEBSITE
THE CARETAKER GAZETTE: a company publishing
for 42 years! Our visitor traffic to www.caretaker.org keeps increasing every
week. That's because, as our advertisers and subscribers know - we are the only
Publication of its kind, we are a bricks and mortar company - not just a
website.
We have had a rise in the number of complaints about websites
that are set up to promote themselves by offering housesitting and property
caretaking assignments. Some of these websites have allowed people to place
fraudulent ads for housesitting and property caretaking jobs that do not exist.
THE CARETAKER GAZETTE is not affiliated with and has no connection to any of
these websites. All of the ads that you see in the printed issues and online
editions of the GAZETTE are legitimate and paid for by the
advertisers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HELP WANTED on a relatively remote off-grid, solar electric, oceanfront, retreat/home in South Kona. The caretaker must have skills in the areas of tropical gardening/landscaping (includes trimming, drip irrigation, weeding, and organic maintenance; however, not a farm!), maintenance/repair, structural and mechanical, basic plumbing, electrical, seasonal wood finishing, screen repair, and knowledge of wood/hand tools. Auto maintenance and basic mechanical skills are a plus. Agility and strength and some "heavy lifting”, ladder climbing necessary. Applicants should be neat, communicate well, be willing to follow direction, and be a team player with a good work ethic. The caretaker should relate well to other staff, guests, and also be able to handle time alone. This is not for someone city oriented. Must be comfortable in a warm tropical beach/ocean environment; “outdoor" living and being close to nature. Work trade plus wages and benefits based upon commitment and experience. Owners/original designers/builders are on site and available to train and orient to all the systems and the local environment so that caretaker is able to manage our home/retreat both when the owners are home or traveling off island. The property is smoke, drug and alcohol free. Please email your information, and recent photo to caretakergazette@gmail.com and include “Hawaii Position” in the Subject Line for our forwarding purposes.
